Artale F/P Arch Mage Guide

Magician → F/P Wizard → F/P Mage → F/P Arch Mage

Choose a job

Quick take

Summed up from the sections below, where the details and exceptions are; sources are listed at the end of the page.

What it plays like

  • F/P trains by poisoning monsters 1–20 levels above you (Poison Breath in 2nd job, Poison Mist in 3rd), one of the fastest levelers — but it levels alone, so it doesn't suit players who want to party with friends.
  • Poor gear still works and big spending feels weak; multi-part raid bosses and Meteor training eat potions. Artale raids specifically need mages to clear adds (like the dark orbs at normal Papulatus).

Stats

  • Roll 4 STR / 4 DEX / 13 INT / 4 LUK if you can; job advancement needs Lv.8 and 20 INT. F/P goes full INT: poison takes a fixed % of monster HP regardless of magic attack, so HP is what matters early.
  • From Lv.90, with good funds, switch to the equipment build (LUK = level + 2–3 to wield staves); on a budget, stay full INT with the Maple staff; with money, the mushroom staff plus dragon necklace.

Skill build

Click a skill for the skill database; the number after the slash is its max level. SP per job: 61 at 1st (67 for magicians), 121 at 2nd, 151 at 3rd.

Beginner

Beginner

  1. 1Three SnailsLv.3/3
  2. 2RecoveryLv.3/3
  • Artale's Three Snails uses no snail shells, so it carries you through the early levels.
  • Heal now restores HP over a minute and saves a lot of potions early on; Nimble Feet 3 is fine too if you want speed.
1st job

Magician

SP 67
  1. 1Improving MP RecoveryLv.5/16
  2. 2Improving MaxMP IncreaseLv.10/10
  3. 3Energy BoltLv.1/20
  4. 4Magic ClawLv.20/20
  5. 5Improving MP RecoveryLv.16/16
  6. 6Magic GuardLv.20/20
  • Magic Claw has the most hits of any magician skill; keep it for event monsters later.
  • If you want Magic Armor, reset Magic Guard to 3 or 5 and put the rest into Magic Armor.
2nd job

F/P Wizard

SP 121
  1. 1TeleportLv.1/20
  2. 2MP EaterLv.1/20
  3. 3Fire ArrowLv.30/30
  4. 4TeleportLv.20/20
  5. 5Poison BreathLv.30/30
  6. 6MeditationLv.20/20
  7. 7MP EaterLv.20/20
  8. 8SlowLv.1/20
  • Fire Arrow drops to 75 attack but hits three monsters; Poison Breath now always poisons.
  • Fire Arrow for three monsters, Poison Breath for one.
3rd job

F/P Mage

SP 151
Build 1Training
  1. 1Poison MistLv.28/30
  2. 2Partial ResistanceLv.3/20
  3. 3ExplosionLv.1/30
  4. 4Element AmplificationLv.3/30
  5. 5Spell BoosterLv.11/20
  6. 6ExplosionLv.30/30
  7. 7Element AmplificationLv.30/30
  8. 8Element CompositionLv.30/30
  9. 9Poison MistLv.30/30
  10. 10Partial ResistanceLv.20/20
  • SP is tight in 3rd job; you can do both training and bossing only from about Lv.103. Poison Mist 28 and 30 differ very little and both poison monsters down to a sliver, so 28 is enough.
  • Element Resistance 3 cuts the Viking’s magic damage (skip it if you don’t fight Vikings); Element Amplification 3 is the prerequisite for Spell Booster, and Booster 11 gives +2 cast speed.
  • Seal adds very little at Zakum (and costs two attacks to cast), so it is skipped.
  • Element Amplification goes from 135% to 150% and became an active skill; Seal now lowers weapon defense by 10%.
4th job

F/P Arch Mage

Build 1Standard training
  1. 1Fire DemonLv.30/30
  2. 2Meteor ShowerLv.1/30
  3. 3ElquinesLv.30/30
  4. 4ParalyzeLv.30/30
  5. 5Maple WarriorLv.9/30
  6. 6Big BangLv.30/30
  7. 7Meteor ShowerLv.30/30
  • Build 1: SP is very short at Lv.120, so take Elquines and Ifrit first for training; poison training at Central Road II is very efficient. Adjust if a raid needs Meteor Shower.
  • Build 2: Meteor Shower straight to 30 makes two-shots without Element Amplification much easier; with Magic Crash, two-shotting butterflies needs only 920 magic attack. Past 15, go straight to 30, since the MP cost is the same.
  • Ifrit is manual-cast only and easy to forget, so take it to 10+ at once; Infinity comes after everything above (1 early for field bosses). Maple Warrior 9 or 19 both work; take it early if your Zakum party has no one casting it.
  • When resetting, you can drop either Fire Demon or Explosion from 3rd job; keep Element Resistance for bosses. Paralyze beats Fire Demon 30 from level 4 on regular monsters and level 2 on bosses.
  • Paralyze goes 210 → 280 attack with +1 speed and +10% boss damage; Meteor adds paralysis while it is below Paralyze's level.

Leveling route

Level ranges are suggestions; later stages list several options to pick from by accuracy, damage and potion budget. EXP is a rough figure per 10 minutes, often with Holy Symbol or event bonuses.

  1. 1–10Lv
    Solo

Maple Island quests (advance at about Lv.10)

Three Snails 3 and Nimble Feet 3 before advancing; throw snails at Orange Mushrooms until 14.

  2. 14–27Lv
    Solo

Energy Bolt at 14; buy the Lv.8 wand (2,000 mesos in Ellinia).

  3. 27–35Lv
    Solo
  4. 35–40Lv
    SoloParty

    or Ludibrium PQ

Jr. Wraiths are weak to fire.

  5. 40–47Lv
    Solo

Moon Bunnies are fire-weak and drop Helmet DEX 60% and Shoe for Jump 10%.

  6. 47–53Lv
    Solo

Drops Glove ATT 60% and Earring LUK 60%.

  7. 53–65Lv
    Solo

Grupins make money; the wolves give the most EXP. Save 30M mesos for potions before 65.

  8. 65–79Lv
    Solo

the "blue ship" / "green ship" maps (player nicknames)

Poison Breath training, the most expensive stretch; save EXP coupons for this.

  9. 79–90Lv
    Solo

Poison Mist is cheaper from here; Vikings bankrupt you without a lucky drop, Phantom Watches give the best EXP.

  10. 90–125Lv
    Solo

Nest of a Dead Dragon (poison two Skelegon maps)

From Lv.90 you can poison two Skelegon maps — only when they're empty, and give way if someone wants one.

  11. 95–200Lv
    Solo~2.5M–3.5M/10 min

    Singapore, Central Way 2

Poison plus maxed Elquines, about 2.5–3.5M, with valuable drops.

  12. 140–200Lv
    Solo~4.8M–7M/10 min

Ulu Estate I/II, Centre of + Along the Ulu City (Singapore)

Estate II/I about 4.8–5.2M (Estate I wants Big Bang maxed and is quieter); City Centre plus Along the City about 6M. Player reports for Estate II have a median around 7M (Lv.174–186).

Gear

  • Full INT from 1 to 90: Zakum branch at 30 → Maple staff at 64, a clean sauna robe, the Maple magician shield, Zakum helmet, Maple cape, work gloves and Lv.26 blue shoes (+3 speed).
  • Equipment build from 90: the Lv.92 mushroom staff, a 78/88 overall, and dual-stat 70–90 gloves and shoes. At 120 in the Temple of Time: the Lv.118 enhanced wand (cheap aquamarines, 2 less magic attack than the 120 staff for far less money) plus growth gloves and shoes; a 98/108 overall with LUK scrolls.

Tips

  • Pet potion setup: HP for zero overheal = the monster's max hit + the potion's heal. Typical hits: blue ship about 1,100, green ship 1,300, Vikings 1,500 (with Element Resistance 3), Phantom Watch 1,800, Skelegons 2,200 touch / 3,200 magic, Jr. Newties 1,700–3,100.
  • Cheap potions: grilled eel 1,000 HP (Omega Sector, 1,045), ramen 1,500 HP (Japan shrine, 1,600), chicken rice 2,200 HP (Singapore, 2,200), cheese 4,000 HP (Night Market, 4,500); mineral water 800 MP (Omega Sector, 1,567); cherry pie 2,000 HP and MP (New Leaf City, 3,000, manual only).
  • Normal Papulatus: each dark orb left alive costs 15 seconds; without a Paladin's Magic Crash, two-shotting the orbs needs 820 magic attack.
