Artale Bishop Guide

Magician → Cleric → Priest → Bishop

Choose a job

Quick take

Summed up from the sections below, where the details and exceptions are; sources are listed at the end of the page.

What it plays like

  • Heal damages undead in 2nd job — the key to cheap Cleric training — but 30–70 is a long grind on undead. Put your first 3rd job point into Shining Ray to leave the undead maps.
  • 4th job training and event farming lean on Genesis, but Artale raised its MP cost a lot; at Zakum and Horntail the Bishop plays as damage.

Stats

  • Start full INT like any magician (4/4/13/4); Lv.8 and 20 INT to advance. Early full INT needs only the Icarus Cape, Skull Helmet, sauna robe and Yellow Umbrella (the budget endgame weapon at 40).
  • Switch to the equipment build later (around 58 or 68): LUK = level + 3.

Skill build

Click a skill for the skill database; the number after the slash is its max level. SP per job: 61 at 1st (67 for magicians), 121 at 2nd, 151 at 3rd.

Beginner

Beginner

  1. 1Three SnailsLv.3/3
  2. 2RecoveryLv.3/3
  • Artale's Three Snails uses no snail shells, so it carries you through the early levels.
  • Heal now restores HP over a minute and saves a lot of potions early on; Nimble Feet 3 is fine too if you want speed.
1st job

Magician

SP 67

Same as the Arch Mage (F/P) 1st job.

  1. 1Improving MP RecoveryLv.5/16
  2. 2Improving MaxMP IncreaseLv.10/10
  3. 3Energy BoltLv.1/20
  4. 4Magic ClawLv.20/20
  5. 5Improving MP RecoveryLv.16/16
  6. 6Magic GuardLv.20/20
  • Magic Claw has the most hits of any magician skill; keep it for event monsters later.
  • If you want Magic Armor, reset Magic Guard to 3 or 5 and put the rest into Magic Armor.
2nd job

Cleric

SP 121
  1. 1TeleportLv.1/20
  2. 2MP EaterLv.1/20
  3. 3HealLv.30/30
  4. 4TeleportLv.20/20
  5. 5BlessLv.20/20
  6. 6MP EaterLv.20/20
  7. 7InvincibleLv.20/20
  8. 8Holy ArrowLv.11/30
  • Heal damages up to six undead monsters; Holy Arrow hits one.
  • Angel Ray replaces Holy Arrow after 4th job, so support players can skip it.
3rd job

Priest

SP 151
  1. 1Shining RayLv.1/30
  2. 2DispelLv.3/20
  3. 3Holy SymbolLv.30/30
  4. 4Mystic DoorLv.1/20
  5. 5Shining RayLv.30/30
  6. 6Summon DragonLv.30/30
  7. 7DispelLv.20/20
  8. 8Mystic DoorLv.20/20
  9. 9Elemental ResistanceLv.20/20
  • Holy Symbol's solo EXP bonus goes from 110% to 125%; Shining Ray 105 → 118; Doom now weakens monster attack and speed.
  • For support, Summon Dragon 15 is enough as the 4th job prerequisite (Bahamut replaces it).
4th job

Bishop

Build 1Damage build (before the Angel Ray 30 book)
  1. 1Maple WarriorLv.9/30
  2. 2Big BangLv.30/30
  3. 3GenesisLv.10/30
  4. 4ResurrectionLv.1/10
  5. 5InfinityLv.1/30
  6. 6BahamutLv.30/30
  • This build treats the Bishop as a damage dealer for Zakum (Lv.135+ recommended): Big Bang is the main skill and does full damage at 70–80% charge; take Bahamut as high as you can. Resurrection 1 is enough: Artale made it a 2-second shield against lethal damage with a long cooldown.
  • Angel Ray is single-target; don’t reset into it until you have its 30 book, then swap it with Big Bang.
  • Training and event farming mostly rely on Genesis, but its MP cost is much higher in Artale (2100 → 3200 at 1, 4000 → 7000 at 20, 3500 → 6500 at 30); it usually pays off only around Lv.160, when Genesis 30 one-shots Skelegons, and the potion cost is heavy.

Leveling route

Level ranges are suggestions; later stages list several options to pick from by accuracy, damage and potion budget. EXP is a rough figure per 10 minutes, often with Holy Symbol or event bonuses.

  1. 1–13Lv
    Solo

Maple Island quests, then Grendel's quests after advancing

  2. 13–21Lv
    Solo
  3. 21–35Lv
    SoloParty

    or Kerning PQ

Skip Jr. Wraiths until Heal is higher.

  4. 35–50Lv
    SoloParty

    or Ludibrium PQ

Heal Jr. Wraiths from 37; Zombie Lupins or Platoon Chronos from 43, nearly potion-free once MP Eater is high. Wraiths at 48–50 need pulling and jump-healing; avoid the area below the subway bats.

  5. 51–70Lv
    SoloParty

    or Orbis PQ

Skeletons at Military Camp 1 and Coolie Zombies at Forest of the Dead 2 from 54 — the slowest stretch.

  6. 70–87Lv
    SoloParty

    Death Teddy parties

From 76, Death Teddy parties are your main EXP; settle loot before taking a support slot. With Magic Resistance you can solo them (about 1,350 HP without it).

  7. 87–120Lv
    Party~400k/10 min

    Phantom Watch parties

Parties make 400k+ per 10 minutes; soloing needs high Magic Resistance and 1,600–1,700 HP of buffer.

  8. 120–200Lv
    Solo~3.2M–4.3M/10 min

Nest of a Dead Dragon (Skelegons)

Even with Singapore open, the most common Bishop report is still Skelegons (median about 3.7M, Lv.151–183); Genesis pays off around 160, when Genesis 30 one-shots them.

  9. 110–150Lv
    Party

    Jr. Newtie parties

Bring Holy Symbol to a party.

  10. 155–200Lv
    SoloParty~1.5M–5.2M/10 min

    Singapore, Central Way 2

Median report about 3.5M, but Genesis often costs about 5M per hour.

  11. 165–200Lv
    Solo~4M–7.57M/10 min

Ghost Ship 2, Ulu Estate II (Singapore)

Ghost Ship 2 median about 4.55M and Estate II about 6.1M, but reported potion costs are often 5–8M per hour.

Tips

  • Heal hits harder per target with fewer targets, but total damage is still higher on more (target factor: 1 → 6, 2 → 4, 3 → 3.17, 4 → 2.75, 5 → 2.5, 6 → 2.33).
  • Genesis pays off around Lv.160, when Genesis 30 one-shots Skelegons; before that, training is very potion-heavy.
