Artale Dark Knight Guide

Swordman → Spearman → Dragon Knight → Dark Knight

Choose a job

Quick take

Summed up from the sections below, where the details and exceptions are; sources are listed at the end of the page.

What it plays like

  • High floor, medium ceiling; great survival, medium damage. Ratings (out of 5): training 4, field bosses 4, farming 4, raids 5. Early 3rd job is rough (short reach, no damage cut, potion-hungry); 4th job pulling skills make training comfortable.
  • In raids, Hyper Body and Power Crash (reworked in Artale to 1% damage cut per 1,000 HP, up to 20%) make teammates much safer, a role nobody else fills.

Stats

  • Skip the fixed 3 STR : 2 DEX rule; instead ask what you'll hunt, how much accuracy it needs, and how to cover the gap (use an accuracy calculator). 1 DEX = 0.8 accuracy, 1 LUK = 0.5; Spear/Polearm Mastery gives +20; Bless +20, accuracy potions +5 and pills +10 don't stack — pick one.
  • You've 'graduated' a patch once gear plus pills reach the accuracy you need and all AP can go into STR. Skelegons need 137 accuracy; 127 from gear alone (before a pill) is a soft graduation.

Skill build

Click a skill for the skill database; the number after the slash is its max level. SP per job: 61 at 1st (67 for magicians), 121 at 2nd, 151 at 3rd.

Beginner

Beginner

  1. 1Three SnailsLv.3/3
  2. 2RecoveryLv.3/3
  • Artale's Three Snails uses no snail shells, so it carries you through the early levels.
  • Heal now restores HP over a minute and saves a lot of potions early on; Nimble Feet 3 is fine too if you want speed.
1st job

Swordman

SP 61

Same as the Hero 1st job.

  1. 1Improving HP RecoveryLv.5/16
  2. 2Improving Max HP IncreaseLv.10/10
  3. 3Power StrikeLv.1/20
  4. 4Slash BlastLv.20/20
  5. 5EndureLv.3/8
  6. 6Iron BodyLv.19/20
  7. 7Power StrikeLv.4/20
  • Artale maps spawn densely, so the area skill Slash Blast beats single-target Power Strike; max Slash Blast first.
  • Iron Body gives +10 speed in Artale; level 19 is enough (19 and 20 only differ in duration).
  • HP Recovery and Endure also work while moving.
2nd job

Spearman

SP 121
  1. 1Spear MasteryLv.20/20
  2. 2Spear BoosterLv.6/20
  3. 3Final Attack : SpearLv.30/30
  4. 4Power StrikeLv.20/20
  5. 5Iron WillLv.3/20
  6. 6Hyper BodyLv.30/30
  7. 7Spear BoosterLv.20/20
  8. 8EndureLv.8/8
  • This build uses a spear only; take the polearm versions with a polearm.
  • Hyper Body raises the party's max HP and is wanted in every party.
  • At Lv.70 you can reset skills to take both spear and polearm Mastery and Booster at 20.
3rd job

Dragon Knight

SP 151
  1. 1Dragon Fury: SpearLv.1/30
  2. 2Spear CrusherLv.30/30
  3. 3Dragon BloodLv.20/20
  4. 4Power CrashLv.20/20
  5. 5Elemental ResistanceLv.20/20
  6. 6Dragon Fury: SpearLv.30/30
  • Use Spear Crusher on three or fewer monsters and Spear Fury on four or more; spend the last 11 points on Dragon Roar or Sacrifice.
  • Crusher and Fury now raise weapon mastery while used; Power Crash became a party buff that cuts monster damage by 20%.
4th job

Dark Knight

Build 1Solo Skelegons
  1. 1RushLv.1/30
  2. 2BeholderLv.1/10
  3. 3Power StanceLv.1/30
  4. 4BerserkLv.20/30
  5. 5BeholderLv.10/10
  6. 6Hex of the BeholderLv.11/25
  7. 7Maple WarriorLv.9/30
  8. 8Power StanceLv.30/30
  9. 9Hex of the BeholderLv.25/25
  10. 10AchillesLv.30/30
  • Build 1 two-shots Skelegons once Power Stance is 30 (about 5,600 range); from about 7,000 range, around Lv.160, three hits with the purple-charge spear work. If damage is short, take Beholder’s Aura to 20 early.
  • After Beholder’s Aura 25, pick one: Hex of the Beholder (fish houses, 500 HP every 4 s, saves about 75k potions per 10 minutes), Achilles (Skelegons and Hard Papulatus, 15% less damage, saves about 65k), or Monster Magnet (speed, about 100k more EXP per 10 minutes at Skelegons).
  • Build 2 trains at the fish houses first, moving to Skelegons after Beholder’s Aura 20 or after Monster Magnet 30. Beholder’s Aura gives +1 attack speed at 11, +1 attack per level at 16–20 and +6% defense ignore per level at 21–25.
  • Berserk 30 lowers the Skelegon threshold a lot: two hits with Dragon Fury (spear) go from 5,809 to 4,685 range.
  • Berserk now triggers above 55% HP for 210%; Beholder's Aura gives +100 defense, +1 attack speed and ignores 30% weapon defense.

    Solo~3.9M–4.3M/10 min

    Singapore, Ghost Ship 1/2/5/6

Small, dense and easier to find empty, but monsters hit hard.

    Solo~4.4M–5.6M/10 min

Ulu Estate I/II, Entrance / Centre of / Along the Ulu City

At 8,000 polearm range (with Holy Symbol): Estate II 4.75M, Along the City 4.6M, City Centre 4.25M; Ulu Estate I with four Dragon Crusher hits reached about 5.62M, no need to fight over Estate II.

Gear

  • Spears: the 1,500-day Maple flag at 30, Maple spear at 43, Maple Silver Moon spear at 64 (auction, as budget allows); polearms: Maple Karstan at 64, and the purple surfboard at 95 is a must.
  • High-level spears at 100, 110 (if 120 is too pricey) and 120. Replace a weapon only for 10+ more attack; on other slots fix accuracy first, then attack and STR.
  • Use only the spear in 3rd job; switch to spear plus polearm once you have the purple surfboard and 5,000 max range.

Tips

  • A Haste buffer frees your gear from speed and jump and adds 50% mesos; Dark Knights are close to mandatory in raids.
