01 | Spend all your skill points
At level 70, open the skill window and spend every leftover 1st and 2nd job point. If you see the 3rd job instructor with points left, they just tell you to spend them and give no quest.
The 3rd job isn't hard, there are just a lot of places to go, and halfway through it's easy to forget who's next. So here it is in one place; just follow along. Every NPC, monster and item in the text links to its data.
The quest has two parts:
Hand both necklaces to your 3rd job instructor and you're done.
Before you start, check two things: You're level 70, and every skill point is spent; otherwise the 3rd job instructor won't give you the quest.
Other guides: High-value quests, Adventurer's Ring quests
The Black Charm drops from your clone and is traded for the Necklace of Strength; the Necklace of Wisdom needs a perfect quiz. All three are quest items and disappear once handed in.
Step by step · NPC locations and what to bring
There are no waits in this quest; with everything on hand you can finish in one go. After each hand-in, talk to the same NPC again and make sure the quest moved on before you leave.
(The routes below show the order only, not real distances; the quiz wording varies a little between versions, so go by the keywords.)
At level 70, open the skill window and spend every leftover 1st and 2nd job point. If you see the 3rd job instructor with points left, they just tell you to spend them and give no quest.
Each quiz attempt costs one Dark Crystal, and one wrong answer means starting over with another, so bring a few to be safe. If you have none, take Dark Crystal Ore to Vogen in El Nath to refine it, or buy from other players.
All five classes' 3rd job instructors are in the Chief's Residence; talk to yours. They send you back to Victoria Island to prove yourself to the instructor who gave you your 1st job.
On Victoria Island, your 1st job instructor tells you a clone of theirs is in another dimension and asks you to defeat it. Then head to your class's Door of Dimension.
Only a class with the quest can enter its door; for others nothing happens. Click the door and you're sent to the other dimension.
| Class | 1st job instructor | Map with the door | How to get there |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Dances with Balrog | Ant Tunnel Park | Enter the Ant Tunnel on the right of Sleepywood and keep going right |
| Magician | Grendel the Really Old | The Forest of Evil II | Far right of the map |
| Bowman | Athena Pierce | Sleepy Dungeon V | Enter through the house below Sleepywood; top right of the map |
| Thief | Dark Lord | Monkey Swamp II | Top right of the map |
| Pirate | Kyrin | The Cave of Evil Eye II | Enter the Ant Tunnel on the right of Sleepywood, then go to The Cave of Evil Eye |
The clone appears as soon as you enter, and you have 20 minutes. Every clone is level 80, so bring plenty of potions. The Pirate's clone summons smaller clones; focus on the main one. Once it's dead, pick up the Black Charm and click the Sparkling Crystal on the map to leave.
Give the Black Charm to your 1st job instructor for the Necklace of Strength. Take it back to your 3rd job instructor at the Chief's Residence in El Nath; then comes part 2.
Walk out of El Nath to Sharp Cliff II; the entrance at the top right of the map leads to the Holy Ground at the Snowfield. Dark Pepes and Dark Yetis roam nearby. Keep your Dark Crystal with you.
Click the Holy Stone and hand in a Dark Crystal to start five questions. Get all five right for the Necklace of Wisdom; one wrong answer ends it, and you start over with another crystal. The answers are listed below.
Back at the Chief's Residence, give the Necklace of Wisdom to your 3rd job instructor and pick your 3rd job. Don't forget to spend your new 3rd job skill points.
The stone draws five random questions from its pool. They're grouped by type below, with the question keyword on the left and the answer on the right; match them to the choices. Where old and new versions word an option differently, the answer column says so.
